Carlie: Have you ever wondered how spiritual gifts work? The gifts of healing and prophecy and tongues and the workings of miracles and many more? Well, stay tuned to find out how.

Announcer: Welcome to the Abundant Life program with Ashley and Carlie Terradez.

Ashley: Hello, and welcome to Abundant Life. My name is Ashley Terradez and this is my wife Carlie. And we’re so glad you’ve joined us today here in the lounge. We’ve got a great program for today. In fact, we’re talking about spiritual gifts. We’re talking about how you can hear the voice of God and about the nine spiritual gifts. The nine spiritual gifts are very key to you operating in ministry and helping others and being equipped to praise God in ministry. Amen. So, right at the moment we’re actually halfway through explaining the nine spiritual gifts as part of our Hearing God series. And last time, if you joined us last time, you’ll know that we’ve already looked at, this is all from First Corinthians 12 if you’ve followed along, First Corinthians 12, Paul lists out the spiritual gifts here starting in verse eight. We’ve already looked at the word of knowledge, so talking about the word knowledge is something that’s a supernatural understanding or a supernatural insight into the past or present.

We looked at the word of wisdom, which is a supernatural insight into the future. Often what prophets will use is the word of wisdom. They’ll be able to call out something in the future that is going to happen. And then, we looked at the gift of faith, which is the supernatural ability to believe God, especially in the area of provision or protection. Just a peace, being able to believe God no matter what’s going on around you, God will give you that right when you need it. And these gifts, all these gifts, the Holy Spirit gives us as we need them. In ministry situations, the Holy Spirit gives us these gifts so we can effectively minister. In fact, Paul puts it this way, this is First Corinthians 12, verse 11, he says, “But the one and the same spirit works all these things, distributing to each one,” to each believer, “as he wills.”

So, as God wills because he knows what’s best for us. Praise God. And then again, it says at verse seven at the beginning of the spiritual gifts list, he says, “The manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” So, the idea of the spiritual gifts is to help us minister and to be able to share God’s love and set people free more effectively in whatever situation. Sometimes it could be in a church setting, in a corporate worship setting, might be one-on-one when you’re with someone and you’re just talking to them and God gives you a word of wisdom or word of knowledge or something like that. It could be anywhere, but these spiritual gifts are for the profit of all. God gives them to us by his Holy Spirit to help us be a success. Amen.

So, we’ve already looked at the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom and the gift of faith. The next one we’re looking at is the gifts of healings. Now, this is interesting. This is the gifts of healings. It’s not the gift of healing. It’s the gift of healings. So, this is something that’s a special ability to see people healed in certain areas. So, some people, they find out that they pray for people and everyone with bad knees gets healed or everyone with bad backs gets healed, or they could pray for people and they always see people with certain conditions get healed. That’s the gift of healings.

Carlie: And then, this is different from the authority that every believer has over all sickness and disease. So, this is a gift that is specific to usually a type of sickness or a type of disease. And we mentioned this last time, and I think Ashley’s touched on this as well, but the gifts of healings would be for the body. So, if we had sickness in our own body, it wouldn’t be the gift of healings or the working of miracles that would operate in our body in order for us to receive a manifestation of healing, we’d need to use our own authority. We’ve been given all authority over all sickness and all disease. You can read that in Luke 9:1, and every believer has that. That’s not unique to one person. That is standard issue equipment for the believer. Right? But the gifts of healings is a specific gift that operates as the Holy Spirit wills for other people.

So as Ashley was saying, sometimes people notice, maybe you pray for a lot of people and you notice that when you pray for somebody, maybe you’ve noticed that everyone that you pray for that has hearing problems receives their hearing, or if you pray for a lot of people with blindness you seem to get more success, more instantaneous results, manifestations of healing with blindness or cancer or arthritis or whatever it is. And if you’ve noticed that, then it’s likely that you have a gift of healing in that particular area.

Ashley: Amen, and that’s something that you learn as you go, because you’ll start to pray for people and you’ll have a confidence in that area and have the confidence to pray for people in that area. I’ve seen this operating in Carlie. I’ve seen this operating in other people where they have a gift of healings. God wants you well. God wants the body of Christ well. We’ve covered a whole course on this about healing and about how God wants you healed and whole, and we have resources about you receiving your healing. We’d love you to get those resources. But here’s the thing, God wants you well. And a lot of the time, like Carlie says, healing comes by the word of God, by believing the word and trusting God and we can our bodies healed. But sometimes people haven’t got time for that. Sometimes people need a healing right away.

Carlie: And that’s why the gifts are important.

Ashley: That’s why the gifts of healings, and the next one we’re going to look at is the working of miracles, is important because sometimes someone needs a breakthrough right then and there and they haven’t got time for seed time and harvest. They haven’t got time to plant the scriptures on healing and believe God. They need the gift of healings right there. And like I said, God’s heart is for the body of Christ to be healed and that’s why he’s given these gifts because he wants to see everybody well. So, really whatever state you’re in, the neat thing as well with the gift of healings is they’ll work on unbelievers. In fact, a lot of the time it’s easier to see unbelievers healed than believers because they haven’t got any religious upbringing or maybe they haven’t gotten any traditions of man’s blocking their thinking about healing. And they haven’t got issues with am I worthy or not worthy to be healed and things like that. As long as they are in neutral, if you like, as long as they’re not resistant, as long as they’re not in reverse, as long as they’re neutral you can get going.

Carlie: As long as they think it’s possible.

Ashley: Yeah, and there’s been a number of times when I’ve seen people that aren’t even born again healed, and it really is the dinner bell to the gospel. If they see their physical body healed they’re much more open to the gospel. And that’s when the gifts of healings can come into operation, when you’re praying for someone who’s sick, who’s not a believer and you see them healed. So, there’s the gift of healing. There’s several of them. I don’t believe anyone in the body of Christ has every gift of healing that’s why we need the whole body together. And some people, you may operate in a few different gifts of healings. And again, like all these spiritual gifts, they’re not very black and white sometimes.

Sometimes you can’t be like, this is this and this is this. Sometimes we don’t know where the gift ends and our spiritual authority starts and things like that. It doesn’t really matter. The main thing is, is we are going out ministering the love of God to people and the Holy Spirit will give us these gifts as we will. So, the gift of healings you’ll find if you pray for certain things, you’ll get results. And then, things will get more bolder and that may be a gift of healings in operation. Amen.

Carlie: I’ve had people ask me, well, how many gifts of healings are there? Are there 39 that corresponds to the stripes that are on Jesus’ back or the roots of disease?

Ashley: Makes sense, good theory.

Carlie: It makes sense, but I don’t know. I mean, I don’t think that’s really clear in the word. The answer is, I don’t know, honestly, but there are lots of them. And the main thing is there are enough to get the job done.

Ashley: Amen. That’s good. So, that’s the gift of healings. The next one we’re going to look at is the working of miracles, the working of miracles. This is a spiritual gift, the working of miracles. Now, the definition here we’ve got is it’s not just a healing, a miracle supersedes the natural laws. So healing, really, if you think about it, the healing and the gift of healings is like a speeding up of the body’s natural process to heal itself. The body wants to heal itself. It’s a healing. A miracle is, the working of a miracle is something that supersedes natural laws. It’s beyond just what your body can do. And sometimes we confuse the two. We say we saw a miracle when really it was a healing, and that’s okay, we can say that.

Carlie: I don’t think it’s really important to clearly define the difference. But for those that are interested, a miracle would be something that’s, for example, maybe you’ve had an organ removed and then you go and find later on from examination or whatever that suddenly that organ has grown back. A creative miracle has happened. I’ve seen people before that had blindness in one eye and they actually didn’t have an eyeball, and after prayer they could see out of… they had an eyeball created. Or maybe a leg was shortened for some reason and that leg grew, the bone grew. That’s not a healing. That is a bone regenerating. That is a miracle. Amen. So, in the area of healings and miracles it’s often a gray area. I don’t think it’s really super important to get hung up on what people need, whether they need a healing or a miracle, but if you’re looking for a definition you have one there.

Ashley: That’s right, that’s right, amen. And healing and miracles, often evangelists are working in this miracle gift because it’s the dinner bell to the gospel and they’ll often call out healings and they’ll see the workings of miracles operate in their ministry and that’s to draw people to Christ. Jesus often used the working of miracles. He would be out and he’d be praying for people and see them miraculously healed and it would cause people to be drawn towards him so he could teach them the gospel and tell them about the goodness of God and the love of God.

Carlie: You raise somebody from the dead and the meeting’s on at that point. Right?

Ashley: It really is. So the working of miracles, it supersedes easy natural law, it’s something that cannot be explained. It’s not just something that could be explained, could be explained away easily, it has to be something that can’t be explained, something that’s definitely supernatural, a supernatural miracle, working of miracles. And working of miracles, sometimes it can be a process in these working of miracles and also this doesn’t have to necessarily be limited to just physical healing. This can also be applied to the working of miracles in finances when people believe God for financial miracles and they see that. In different areas, working of miracles can actually be manifested in different areas.

Carlie: A biblical example is, I mean obviously, raising from the dead is an obvious one, but the feeding of the 5000.

Ashley: Feeding the 5000 was a working of miracles.

Carlie: Amen. A supernatural multiplication of a few loaves and fishes that was not nearly enough, that supernatural provision was a working of miracles.

Ashley: Working of miracles. Amen. So, we’ve got gifts of healings, working of miracles. Next one I’ve got here is prophecy. The gift of prophecy. Our definition here is a supernatural message in a known language that is inspired by the Holy Spirit. And this is for edification, exhortation and confirmation. Amen. So, this is a supernatural message given by the Holy Spirit and the person giving that message didn’t know these things in the natural. Amen. So, this is the gift of prophecy. A spiritual gift of prophesy. Has that operate or exercise? You’ve got any examples or anything?

Carlie: Well prophecy… edification, exhortation. I mean, oftentimes if I’m praying for somebody the Lord will give me a word of prophecy, a word of encouragement, a word of something I couldn’t otherwise have known that’s going to build them up. That’s going to encourage them. That’s going to edify them in some way. What we say when we’re delivering, if you’re ministering to somebody, in the scripture it says we know in part and we prophesy in part. And so really, what we’re talking about here is hearing from God and then delivering what he’s saying to the person. It’s an exercise in hearing from God actually. But we need to be careful that we aren’t backing people into a corner because we know in part and we prophesy in part, because the spiritual gifts are operated as the spirit wills, yes, but through our personality and sometimes we add our interpretation to it without meaning to, they are delivered through the flesh.

Right? So, oftentimes when we see spiritual gifts there’s a little bit of flesh involved in that. And God’s not worried about that. Right? He’s not scared about that. He’s not scared if we make a mistake, if we deliver a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, a word of prophecy and we don’t get it exactly a hundred percent right. He’s not worried about that. These things take practice. Right? Doctor’s practice so I don’t know why we can’t. Right? But we know in part and we prophesy in part, and so when delivering these types of words to people, I find it’s always better to be honest with people and say things like, “I feel the Lord is saying, does this bear witness with you?” And then deliver it rather than, “Thus sayeth the Lord.” Right? Because what happens is, you back people into a corner and you might actually be wrong.

Ashley: Oh yeah, yeah. We’re always going to be… especially the gift of prophecy, the gift of the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge, like Carlie said, they operate through us and we have flesh and sometimes we miss it altogether. I’ve had times where I’ve missed it all together. Sometimes we may add to it. Sometimes God tells us to say this word and we end up adding to it and making a sentence out of it when he meant just share this. Sometimes we add our natural wisdom to it and try and work it out and explain it.

Carlie: Right, and try and help God out a little bit.

Ashley: We try and help God out a bit.

Carlie: We get a word from God and we’d string it out into a whole paragraph.

Ashley: And some of the most powerful words from God I’ve had, the most powerful words of prophecy I’ve had and words of wisdom I’ve had, is when people say this might be me, it might be God, or I think God’s saying this, so it doesn’t have to be enforced like, “Thus sayeth the Lord.” And remember, it’s always going to be positive. It’s always going to be for exhortation and for edification, it’s not going to be something negative. We know the prophets in the Old Testament might use prophecies for rebuking and things like that, but in the New Testament we don’t see that. In the New Testament we see prophecy used for exhortation. There’s been many times in my life when people would give me powerful words that have changed my life, but they’ve started with, “I think the Lord saying this,” or “I’ve got a feeling the Lord’s saying that.”

Carlie: It doesn’t make it any less powerful.

Ashley: No, it really doesn’t make it less powerful.

Carlie: Because God is God.

Ashley: And it’s giving people a way out as well. And then sometimes, the person isn’t ready to receive it. I’ve given people words and they’ve said, “Oh, I don’t receive that,” when really it was for them, they just weren’t ready to receive it. One time, I don’t know if this was a word of knowledge, probably a word of knowledge rather than prophecy, but anyway, I was at church and I stood up and I said, “Someone here is believing God for $50. If you believe in God for $50 come forward.” And no one. And I was like, “Oh no, I’m out on the limb now.” I said, “God told me someone here is believing $50. Who is it? Come forward and receive it.” No one. And I was like, “This is getting embarrassing.”

Carlie: You’re trying to give away $50 in church and no one was responding.

Ashley: I think it was a prosperous church. And then eventually, someone got up and they said, “I am.” And I wrote them out the check for $50. I gave it to him. But it really wasn’t… it was in context, I was actually taking up the offering so it was in context, it wasn’t like it was out of order or anything, but I felt God had told me that. And I use it as an example in the offering tool. But I knew that lady who came forward, it wasn’t her. And afterwards, about two weeks afterwards, a friend of mine came to me, said, “You know Ashley, that was me who was believing God for $50.” I said, “Why didn’t you come forward?” She said, “I was just too embarrassed. They’re prosperous people.” She said, “I didn’t want people to think that we were struggling for $50. But what happened was, I saw these boots in the store and my husband said if you want those boots, you’ve already bought three pairs boots this month, if you want those boots you’re going to have to believe for that $50 directly from God. I’m not paying for them.”

She said, “It wasn’t like we needed the money. But I went home and said God gave me that $50 supernaturally.” And I said, “Well, I was there supernaturally trying to give you $50 and you didn’t respond.” She said, “I was embarrassed. I didn’t want to be seen by everyone as needing $50.” So, sometimes we can give a word and it can be right but the person receiving it might not receive it. They might not be ready to receive it or might not want to admit it. So, that’s the other thing is just because you don’t see a result doesn’t mean that it’s not God. Our part is to share what we believe God’s telling us. My friend had this once. He said God told him to go forward and he said go and prophesy. So, he went to the front of the church. He said, “What do I say?” And he said, “Just go up there and say the.” Literally just the one word, the.

And he was like, “There’s no way I’m going to go forward and just go up and say the.” He said, “Thus sayeth the Lord,” in the microphone, “the.” And sat back down again and thought, “What a fool. What an idiot.” And then this woman jumped up and gave a whole word of prophecy. And her prayer was-

Carlie: She just needed it.

Ashley: And her prayer was, Lord if you want me to share this word of prophecy then I want you to send someone to say the first word.

Carlie: To start me off.

Ashley: And that was the first word. Yeah so, silly examples like that, but it’s all part of learning how to operate in the spiritual gifts and we need to be ready. Anytime we share a word of prophecy, word of wisdom, word of knowledge, we need to be ready for correction as well. We need to be open for grace. Don’t get offended if you’re corrected, we need to be open for missing it sometimes. Sometimes we miss it. We think it’s God and we miss it. And we also need to be ready for that person not being ready to receive it yet. So, don’t make it all about you. Don’t get insecure about it, just know I’m obeying God and I’m going to leave all the consequences to him. So that’s prophecy, a powerful gift. It’s a great gift, a powerful gift. The next one is discerning of spirits. This is not superstition. This isn’t superstition. This isn’t something that’s only just discerning evil spirits. This is discerning the spiritual realm. This is discerning spiritual activity.

Carlie: Right. So this could be, this doesn’t need to be evil spirits either. Right? We have human spirit. And so, in the scripture, I think it was David that said he could see that there was no guile within him. You can see what is motivating somebody by operating in the discerning of spirits. You can have a sense of whether somebody is telling the truth or not, which is actually really helpful if you’re doing a business transaction or something. Right? If somebody is telling the truth or not, you can see if somebody has really a prideful spirit or if they’re genuine in their offer. Maybe they’re making an offer to you and you can just tell that they don’t really mean it, or you can tell that no, this person is really genuine. I can trust what they say. That’s discerning of spirits.

There is also the discerning of evil spirits and which would lead into the demonic ground. But everything is not a demon. I kind of get a little bit hesitant teaching this because when we mention the discerning of spirits, people suddenly think there’s like a demon in every doorknob or something. And the devil really isn’t that powerful. He hasn’t got that big a demonic army to be everywhere all the time all at once. So it’s the discerning of spirits it’s not the gift of superstition. Okay? Where we start to get superstitious about everything. It’s a spiritual discerning of all kinds of spirits, that could be demonic spirits, that could be angelic spirits, that could be just human nature.

Ashley: Right, that’s good, that’s good. And you know, there’s certain spirits, you can also be discerning the Holy Spirit activity. Sometimes you’ll be in a church service or you’ll feel the Holy Spirit’s activity present to heal or present to set people free and things like that. This is interesting, but you know, if you have a child and they have a lot of nightmares, sometimes that can be a discerning of spirits. Sometimes they’re seeing into the spiritual realm and they’re discerning things. If you have a child that maybe, when your kids are little and you say, “Oh, give him a kiss. Go and give so-and-so a hug,” and they don’t want to that can also be a discerning of spirits. They can discern that that’s not a safe person. So, often you can see children operate in these gifts.

So, these gifts aren’t just for adults so be aware of that as well. But that’s discerning of spirits. And like Carlie said, this can be really helpful. It can help you see people’s motivations. It can help you see people’s motives behind things and that. And things like whenever I hire people, whenever we hire people, we always like to go out as a couple with both of them, with their spouse as well, and we’ll spend time with them and stuff. And often we’ll be praying and Carlie especially, and often this can be… I don’t mean to be sexist… but this can be… women operate in this, it seems to be more than men, they’re more discerning, they’re more intuitive. They’ll say, “I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something not right about this person.” Or, “I’m not sure why, but I can’t trust this person.”

Carlie: And it’s not necessarily anything that person said or done, it’s just an inner knowing.

Ashley: It’s just an intuition and that can often be the discerning of spirits. That’s how that works. So, the discerning of spirits. Again, these are all to help us and to help the body of Christ be successful, praise God. The next one I’ve got here is the gift of tongues. Now, this is different from your personal prayer language of tongues. This is really important. This is where the church has got off so often. And this is why people say tongues isn’t for today and not everyone should speak in tongues, or tongues totally aren’t for today, or tongues are only for certain people. Now, there’s two types of tongues. There’s your personal prayer language of tongues and that is for every believer. If you’re a believer today, you have the right to be baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. That’s your personal prayer language between you and God.

That’s your spirit praying to God’s spirit. And it’s so powerful. Jude 20 and 20 says when you pray in the Holy Spirit, you build yourself up in your most holy faith. You keep yourself in the love of God. And Second Corinthians, I believe, Chapter 2 and Chapter 14 explain a lot about your personal prayer language of tongues. This isn’t your personal prayer language of tongues. This is the spiritual gift of tongues for the profit of all. And this is, the easiest way to describe this, instead of your spirit praying to God’s spirit in tongues, this is God’s spirit praying through you to the congregation, to people, delivering a message that is beyond human reasoning.

This is God’s spirit praying through you and delivering a message that’s beyond human reasoning. So, that’s the spiritual gift of tongues. I’ve got here the gift of tongues is God’s spirit speaking through us and it’ll always be followed with an interpretation. So, the gift of tongues will be followed with an interpretation. In fact, if you give a gift of tongues, give a word of tongues, and none of these gifts are forced on us, here’s the other thing as well. God doesn’t force these gifts on us. We have to be willing to participate. And if you feel led to give a word of tongues, then you also need to be ready to interpret if no one else interprets it.

Carlie: Especially in a congregational setting. Here in First Corinthians 14, Chapter 6, it says, “Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you by revelation or knowledge or prophesying or doctrine?” And it’s talking about there needs to be an interpretation that goes with it. So, that it’s not just, I mean, it’s good to see the spirit moving and to see people give a tongue corporately, but it’s not really going to benefit anyone unless it’s spoken in a known language. And that’s where oftentimes we’ll see the interpretation of tongues and the corporate tongue together, they come in pairs oftentimes.

Ashley: So, I’m going to give a word of tongues then the interpretation. This happened to me various times.

Carlie: It could be different people, right?

Ashley: Right, yeah, different people.

Carlie: Or it could be the same person.

Ashley: I was at a men’s breakfast once, the first time it happened to me in England many years ago, and someone just before the meeting, the person who was ministering said, “I feel that there’s a word from God to be given here today, so we’re just going to wait on the Lord.” And someone gave a word in tongues. And when they gave a corporate word in tongues, usually it’s with authority and it’s a strong word. They gave a few sentences in tongues, and that was God speaking through them. That was the gift of tongues speaking through them to the body of believers. And as he spoke it, right then I knew I had the interpretation and it’s almost like I could understand, not word for word, but-

Carlie: It just kind of dropped on the inside of you.

Ashley: … I knew the interpretation of what he was saying, but I didn’t want to do it. I was like, “No, I’m not going to do it, I’m not going to do it.” My friend next to me was elbowing me. He knew I had it. I don’t know how he knew, but he knew I had it. I was like, “No.” And then, someone tried to interpret it, but it wasn’t the right interpretation.

Carlie: He probably had a word of knowledge-

Ashley: Yeah, probably.

Carlie: … to say that Ashley’s got the tongue.

Ashley: And the person ministering said, “No, that’s all right. We’re going to wait. Someone has the interpretation. So we’re going to wait for it. We’re going to wait for it.” And finally, I was like, “I have to give the interpretation.” So, I spoke out the interpretation, my few sentences, and the person who gave the word in tongues said what I spoke out was exactly what he’d been studying. It was like it fitted together. People were set free.

Carlie: Yeah, but he didn’t know that from what you were saying.

Ashley: He didn’t know that. People were set free. And this has happened often, so that’s one of the [inaudible] is the interpretation of tongues. So, if someone gives a word of tongues, then there’s often an interpretation after it. And that’s the last gift we’re talking about, the interpretation of tongues. And it’s not a translation, it’s not a direct word for word translation, it’s the interpretation of that word that God’s brought to the congregation. God brings a word to the body of Christ and then someone has an interpretation of that word. And it’s powerful because it’s a supernatural word. It’s beyond natural reasoning.

Carlie: And it’s not always completely unknown languages. There’s thousands of languages in the world. Actually, on the day of Pentecost, people were speaking in all different kinds of tongues and other people were starting to understand their own tongue being spoken in a different land.

Ashley: They were able to interpret-

Carlie: They were able to interpret.

Ashley: The gift of interpretation allowed them to interpret in their home language in their mother tongue.

Carlie: I didn’t even know God could do something like this until I went on a mission trip to Russia and we had a healing meeting. It was powerful. We had pastors and ministers come from all over Russia. Some of them have traveled seven days on a train to be there. Russia is such a huge place. And they get there and we’re having this healing meeting and I spoke for two days on healing, and really foundational all the way through. And in the very last day we had a day of ministry, and there just wasn’t enough interpreters to go around for it because everybody wanted ministry by that point. Everyone’s faith was built and they were ready to receive.

And so, as I was standing there, a lady came for prayer and I didn’t have an interpreter so I just began praying in tongues. And this lady starts speaking to me in Russian explaining to me what’s wrong with her. Well I didn’t realize, but I was understanding everything that she was saying in perfect Russian. It’s like in that moment God gave me the gift of interpretation of the known language of Russian just for the duration of that meeting, and for the whole duration of the rest of that ministry term every person that came to me I didn’t need a translator for. I could understand perfectly exactly what they were saying in Russian.

Ashley: And you don’t speak Russian.

Carlie: And I do not speak Russian, not a lick of it. And this lady got miraculously healed. Now, you get one person miraculously healed in front of everybody, the meeting’s on. Right? And so, I believe that God had that gift in operation to stir up the faith in the people that we were around. Now, after the meeting finished, I couldn’t understand Russian again. It was just in that moment, that was the gift of interpretation in action for a known language.

Ashley: That’s awesome. Again, these spiritual gifts are for the profit of all. They’re for the equipping of the saints. They’re to help us minister and share the love of God. And we’re meant to desire these, you can ask the Lord, desire these gifts, and the spirit gives these gifts as he wills. It’s not just up to us which we pick. In that instance, Carlie needed that gift. In mine, people needed encouraging with the interpretation. So, God’s going to give us these gifts as we need them to minister more effectively. Amen. Praise God. But like we said before, you can’t always differentiate which is one and which is the other. But they’re for you and they’re for every believer. I’m telling you, they are for you to help you minister more effectively. Amen.

Carlie: In order to operate, we’ve been talking about spiritual gifts, but in order for us to operate in the spiritual gifts it begins and ends with learning to hear the voice of God on the inside of us. When we learn to hear God and respond to him, it’s like we give spiritual gifts a track to run on.

Ashley: Amen.

Carlie: Amen. So as we listen, as part of our relationship with the Lord, we learn to tune in and listen to the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts will begin to flow through us.

Ashley: Amen. It’s all part of a relationship with God. All these work in relationship with God. This isn’t separate from our relationship with God. In fact, as we press into God, as we seek God, and as we seek to hear his voice more clearly, John 10:27, we started this whole series with that verse. “My sheep hear my voice and they know me and they follow me.” It’s all about following Jesus. It’s all about hearing his voice, praise God.

Carlie: I mean, you can hear his voice.

Ashley: You can hear his voice today. As you’re watching at home or listening, you can hear his voice. Amen. So, we’re out of time this time, thank you for being with us. And remember, don’t just settle for living a normal life when you could be living the abundant life.
