Hello and welcome to Abundant Life. My name’s Ashley Terradez and this is my wife Carlie, and we’re so glad you’ve joined us today in the lounge. We’ve got a great program for you today. We’re talking about how you can see the promises of God actually manifest in your day to day life, praise God. So Carlie, what have we got today?
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
Amen. We started last time talking about the blessings that God has spoken over us and the difference between blessings and cursings. And we were specifically talking about being careful what we confess. Because this whole series we’ve been following the process of confession, creation and manifestation. The words that we sow with our own lips are going into a creative process that forms something. It causes something to manifest. And I think you’ve got a scripture there in James, haven’t you?

This is James three. James talks about this and he talks about the tongue and about the power of the tongue. Of course, we talked last time in Proverbs 18:21 talks about the death and life in the power of the tongue. But this is James’ take on it and he says in chapter three a lot of things about the tongue and about how dangerous it is if we speak, how we speak. And this is James three, verse six. He says, “The tongue is a fire and a world of iniquity.” This has been quite negative about the tongue, ways the tongue could be used, how speech can be used positively as well. But James is emphasizing the negative here. He says, “The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body.” So James is saying what we say with our mouth can defile our whole body, can change everything. He says here, “It sets on fire the course of nature and it is set on fire by hell itself.” He’s not mincing his words here. [crosstalk 00:02:03], he’s pretty serious about it.

In verse seven he says, “Every kind of beast and bird or reptile of the creature of the sea is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.” So he’s saying, “You know what? All these creatures are tamed.” You can have these big old creatures, wherever they are, they can be tamed. They can be trained, they could be caged, they could be tamed, but no man can tame the tongue. He’s saying the tongue is harder to tame than animals. “No man can tame the tongue,” verse eight, “It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison, which it will bless our God, the Father and with it then curse man who have been made in the creation of God.”

So basically what he’s saying is, is that the tongue it can reap evil. I mean, it can sow evil. What we say of our mouth, the old nursery rhyme or the saying, sticks and stones may break my bones-

But words will never hurt me. Your words can never hurt me. You ever heard that when you were a child? Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Well according to James here, according to the Bible, that is not true. Your tongue, what you say is powerful. And what you say, it can be deadly, but also it can bring life. We have death and life in the power of our tongue, but we have to be careful. I said this last time, but we’re not talking about some superstition. I know some people when they talk about their confession and what they speak, they say, “Well that’s over the top. That’s all that name it, claim it, blab it, grab it type stuff.”

We’re not talking about the extreme version. We’re talking about what the word of God says and the word of God, you can’t get away from it. In the word of God and says that our tongue, what we say, our confession has power. Power to do good and power to do evil. And James is saying right here, taming your tongue is the hardest thing. It’s if we don’t tell him our tongues, we could be in serious trouble. He’s saying a whole fire is started just by a little tongue, just by little spark and that’s what can happen sometimes. Just in the natural how many times have you seen someone say something, say something negative about something. It starts a whole family feud or someone says something and starts a fire or whatever it is. That little spark from a saying, an unchecked tongue if you like, can set on fire a whole course of misery.

Now, this is how fake news gets spread around.

People start saying things, start believing it.
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
But there is absolutely power in our tongue. Last time we were talking about how we can curse our seed. How with the power of our tongue, death can be in the tongue the same way life can be in the tongue. And the importance of giving thanks rather than cursing our seeds. You know when we speak, when we confess out of our mouth, power is released. Creative power in our words is released. We’ll create that will make either something beautiful or something something messy and that is what we will see manifest. I think it’s in Luke it says out the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And blessings and cursings can come out of the same mouth, right? With the same mouth we can either bless or we can curse our situation.

Some of the reason that we fail to see manifestation of the promises of God in our life today is because we are cursing our seed. We are speaking negatively, we are reaping what we’ve sown, which has not been very positive and so we miss out on a manifestation. We miss out on a blessing of God because of the words that we speak. We struggle to enter into those things. And it’s fascinating to me what it says in James here about the tongue being like a wildfire. I mean here in Colorado we’ve had problems with wildfires and it’s just one little spark that starts that thing off. And it’s amazing the devastation that can happen. At the same time, those wildfires can also bring new life. Because after the trees have burned down, there is new vegetation that grows up. And that really speaks to me that death and life are in the power of our tongue.

But I want to look at something here. We’re going to talk today more about the blessing of God on our life. We spoke last time about the dangers of speaking out negative confessions, but I want to talk about the blessing that comes when we speak out positive confessions. There is a blessing that has been spoken over our life that will come to pass if we don’t shipwreck it. It’s in us. The blessing of God has been spoken over us and in us to all of our generations. And we can see this back in Genesis 12. So let’s look at Genesis chapter 12 here. This is Abraham. And in verse one it says, “Now the Lord said to Abraham, go from your country, your family, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I’ll make of you a great nation and I’ll bless you and make your name great that you will be a blessing. I’ll bless them that bless you and curse him who curses you. And in you, all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

That blessing that has been spoken over Abraham thousands of years ago is just as true in our lives as it was when it was first spoken. That’s how powerful the blessing of God is. And when we start to recognize that we are blessed, man, we’ve mentioned this in some of our previous shows here, in the same series. There is a point where people get frustrated. When they’re in the middle of that awkward time in the creation phase, where they’ve already confessed the truth, but they haven’t seen it manifest yet. They’re in the middle. And we can grow weary because sometimes we can’t see the creation phase, it’s invisible.

A woman is pregnant, 100% pregnant at the time of inception, but then it takes nine months for a baby to be born. Later on in the pregnancy people can see she’s pregnant. But before in the first five months or so, people can’t see she’s pregnant. But she’s definitely pregnant. So a lot of the time we’re waiting for the promises of God. Now God doesn’t make us wait. God’s will for us is to receive His promises instantaneously. All God’s promises are yes and amen. But sometimes things take a period of time due to different circumstances. Due to our own hearts, our own mind renewal and things like that.

And once we believe there’s always a time period. Carlie said last time, the time period could be very short. It might just be seconds, but it could be months, it could be years. And in that time period of waiting, it’s seed, time, harvest. And sometimes during that time part people can get weary and they can give up if you like. And I’ve done this myself where I’ve dug up my seed by saying, “Well, it’s not going to work. It’s not going to come to pass or it’s too good to be true.” And that’s like digging up our seed when we get weary in that waiting time.

We get weary, and during that time I think we can forget easily that we’re blessed. One truth that has really helped us is understanding who we are in Christ. When we really understand that we are children of the most high God, amen. That His will for us is only good and His promises are yes and amen, it’s almost like we know it’s guaranteed that those promises are coming to pass. And that helps us to hold onto them in the in-between waiting phase.

I remember one time particularly, we lived in a farm house back in England and Ashley at the time he had a car front. He was buying and selling cars. Outside in the courtyard of the farmhouse there we had about 10 vehicles out there that were for sale and different things. At that point, we were college students, we were Bible college students and so we were paying lots of tuition and we could only work part-time. So Ashley was buying and selling cars to get us through Bible college really. And it was really was, it was awesome. It was the Lord’s provision for us.

Put my hand to something. We need resources, we prayed. God will show you what to put your hand to. So I put my hand, I sold one car and then I bought another one and sold another one. I like cars. Some people say I’m carnal, but [crosstalk 00:09:49] it was a good fit for me. It was a hobby but at the same time was making money and that put us through Bible school.

And it was great. Well, it come to this point where we were stock rich and cash poor. In other words, we didn’t have much cash in the bank to buy groceries because all of our money, all of our liquid cash was tied up in stock in the cars that were out in the courtyard. And Ashley says to me, “You’re going to get grocery shopping, you don’t spend too much money. Don’t spend too much money.”

In other words, there really isn’t anything there.

You can’t take a car to the super store and give it as payment. They actually want money.

There’s me, mama bear at home with the three children thinking, “Our cupboards are empty, our refrigerator is empty, our kids are hungry, the kids need shoes.” I’m thinking about all of the natural provisions that we need to provide for our family and getting frustrated, honestly. Just getting in the flesh thinking, “Well, it’s all very well Lord, you told us to come here, you told us to come to Bible college, this was your plan. We’re serving you and now I can’t even go buy groceries.” Man, I had an attitude.

I had a pity party, a fit of carnality and I’m in the kitchen heavily washing up the dishes.

And I’m just getting frustrated. I’m like, “Lord, you told us to do this and I cannot drive a car into the supermarket and use it to pay for my groceries. That is not how this works.” And I started to remind him of the bills that we had coming up.

In case He didn’t know because He wasn’t listening. And so once I’d finished having my rant, having my little pity party, I got quiet and I realized I should probably pray.

It had to come to that.
Ashley:

Come to that. And in the end I humbled myself. I’m like, “Lord, why is this not working? Something is broken. What is it? Where have we missed this? What’s going on? What’s the reason here?” And once I’d finally got to the place where I could listen to Him, He said to me, “You’ve just forgotten that you’re blessed.”

Oh, that’s good.

You’ve just forgotten that you’re blessed, that’s it. You just forgot that you’re blessed. And suddenly the penny dropped from my head to my heart in that moment and I was, “Hang on a second. I’m the child of the most high God. Everything that I touch prospers.” And all of these scriptures started coming back to my remembrance. I’m the head and not the tail. I’m above and not beneath, amen. I’m blessed in the city, I’m blessed in the boat, I’m blessed in the country. I have no lack and everything that I touch prospers. Man, the word of God started coming back to my remembrance. I just forgot that I was blessed. So I’m like, “Wow, we don’t have any flock, but we have cars.”

The cars of the yard. So I go out and I’m like, “Everything I touch prospers. I’m going to start speaking a blessing, the blessing that God’s spoken over us. I’m going to start blessing everything that my hand can touch.” And I go out and I say, “Red car, you’re blessed. Blue car, you’re blessed, green car, you’re blessed.”

It doesn’t matter. I mean, it’s got four wheels and it goes, it doesn’t matter.

Some of them went, some of them didn’t. But I started blessing rather than cursing and being ungrateful for what God had given us. I started to give thanks, which is what we were talking about last time with the feeding of the five thousand.
Ashley: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
I mean, they had just a few loaves and few fish. Just think about this; 5,000 hungry men to feed, and this is the feeding of the 5,000. And Jesus took those loaves and fish, seemingly not enough, seemingly just nowhere near what He needed. But He looked up into heaven. If you study that, looked into the spirit or looked into the kingdom of God, looked into God’s limitless resources rather than just looking at the natural circumstances. He looked into the word of God and He gave thanks. He blessed them and gave thanks for those loaves and fish. So we’re here to tell you, give thanks for your seed. Give thanks for the seed form even though you don’t see the harvest yet. Give thanks for the seed. Because if you curse that seed, you’re not going to see your harvest. You’re going to kill the seed.

And you dig it up before it grows. I went out and prayed for the cars and I came back in. I started cleaning the kitchen. You were a bit surprised weren’t you?

I was. I was like, “What are you cleaning the kitchen for? You serious?”
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
You’re cleaning the kitchen, it must be really bad.
Ashley: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
If Carlie’s cleaning, it must be really serious. I’m just saying.
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
What are you saying? We had this big farmhouse kitchen table and everything in our house happened in the kitchen, didn’t it really? All the kids painting, all the cooking, everything. Everything.

Every house we’ve ever had, we have two or three lounges in some of these houses.

We’re always in the kitchen.

We always live in the kitchen for some reason. But this was a big kitchen, it had a big table. When I used to sell cars, they would come into that kitchen table and that’s where we do the paperwork and sign over the titles and the log book and that.
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
So I started clearing off the table. And Ashley said, “Why are you cleaning?” I said, “I’m preparing for rain.” You see, God had spoken a blessing over us and all I’d done in my heart was start to get into connection with the blessing that God had already spoken. We can connect with the blessing of God, that God has put in our lives. And when I started to get into agreement with that blessing, I started preparing for rain. I started preparing for my harvest. It’s just like a farmer goes out and he starts getting his combine harvester fired up. Because he knows that that grain is going to grow and at some point he’s going to have to go harvest.

I was preparing for the sale of those vehicles. So I started cleaning. Cleaning the counter tops off, they were ready to do the paperwork. And before you know it, the phone starts ringing. And the phone starts ringing and then that day, I mean we had about 10 cars within that two or three days we sold all of them. I mean we’d never had that kind of turnover before, but people just kept phoning up. They walked into our farm yard there. And I remember one couple in particularle and they ended up driving out with a car. And the woman said to me, “I didn’t even want a car. I don’t even know why I’m here.” I’m like, “That’s the blessing of God.” The blessing of God is attracting favor to us. It’s attracting prosperity to us. When we come into agreement with it.

And it was good for them, they got a great deal. They love the car and everything else.
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
Everyone was blessed.
Ashley:
It wasn’t like they were forced to buy a car. They were blessed.
Carlie: Manifesting Miracles Part 4
Everyone was blessed.
Ashley:
In God’s economy, everyone gets blessed, praise God. But what Carlie’s saying is, she forgot she was blessed. It’s like she was saying in Genesis about we’re blessed. We believe in Abraham. This is Galatians. Galatians 3:9 puts it this way. In Galatians 3:9 it says, “So then those who are of faith,” we’re of faith. We’re the house out of faith. We are believers, it’s what we do. We believe, we are of faith, are blessed with believing Abraham. So Abraham was blessed because he believed the promises of God. You are blessed because you believe the promises of God. And whatever the natural circumstances, Carlie looked in the bank account… Or she didn’t even look in the bank account, she just asked me, “How’s the bank doing?” I was like, “Don’t go shopping.” That means it’s bad.
Carlie:
Don’t go there.
Ashley:
That means it’s bad. So the natural circumstance, your bank account might look barren. It might not look like you’re blessed. But that doesn’t mean you’re not blessed. No, you’re blessed because of who you are. And the natural circumstance will have to line up. You might have pain in your body. You might not feel blessed in your body, but you know what this truth is you are blessed, you are healed. Just because the natural circumstance don’t look like they are. You might not feel righteous. You might not act righteous, but if you are born again, you’re the righteousness of God. So we have to realize that the truth is not just what we see and the circumstances aren’t the truth. How do you put it? You can’t look at the circumstances to reveal a spiritual truth. How’d you say it? You say it like that somehow.
Carlie:
You can’t let a physical condition determine a spiritual position.
Ashley:
There you go. Say it again, Carlie.
Carlie:
You can’t let a physical condition determine a spiritual position.
Ashley:
Amen. So spiritually positioned, we are blessed. We believe in Abraham in every area, praise God.
Carlie:
Amen. And you know those scriptures that I was speaking out, those blessings that I was speaking out over those cars, everything I touch prospers, and the flocks in my field are blessed, and I’m the head and not the tail, and above and not beneath. Those all come from Deuteronomy 28. Those are the blessings of God that are spoken over to us. Now there’s also listed in that chapter, the curses as well. Now, because of Jesus, the curses no longer apply. We only get the blessings. Galatians 3:13 says that we have been redeemed from the curse of the law. That means those blessings and cursings that was written under the law. Because Jesus fulfilled the requirement of the law, the curses are removed, but the blessings are still good. We just get to pick up the spoil. I mean, it’s not fair. We have favor, right?
Ashley:
It’s almost too good to be true. That’s what the word gospel meant; almost too good to be true and it really is almost too good to be true. Jesus already paid for it and we just pick up the spoils, praise God. But we just receive it by believing. Grace has paid for it. Faith is just us receiving the gift and saying, “Thank you very much.”
Carlie:
And even now we live in light of the New Testament because of what Jesus has done. The blessings that were spoken by the Lord were just as powerful in the Old Testament. I’m reading the story here in Numbers 23. This is a story of Balaam and Balak. The king was there and he wanted the prophet of God to come in and speak over Jacob’s army basically and curse them. Because he was losing, and he knew the power of words. Even as a heathen, he knew the power of words. So he had the prophet of God for hire. He hired the prophet of God to come and speak a curse over the children of Israel, the children of God. [crosstalk 00:19:11].
Ashley:
A 1-800 curse service.
Carlie:
The curse hotline. Numbers 23:11, this is what happens, okay. Numbers 23:11, we’re jumping in here. But it says, “And Balak said to Balaam, what have you done to me? I brought you here to curse my enemies, but now you have certainly blessed them.” Unfortunately, this backfired on him.
Ashley:
He got the job wrong.
Carlie:
So Balaam comes in and he goes to curse the army and he can’t. And he ends up speaking a blessing over them. Obviously, Balak’s pretty ticked by this. He’s pretty mad. And so he says, “Okay listen. Maybe we can try this again. Maybe you can do better a second time.” So he calls him back in, he says, “Please come with me to another place from where you may see them,” because they’re on a hill overlooking the army. He says, “You’ll see part of them but you won’t see all of them. Curse them for me from there. Have another go, have another crack at least. Come on, I believe in you. Give your best curse [crosstalk 00:20:05].”
Ashley:
Maybe from a distance. If you can’t see them all completely, you’ll be able to curse them.
Carlie:
Maybe that’s what we can do. So anyway, so the Lord speaks to the prophet and he goes and the same thing happens. And in verse 20 it says, this is the prophet speaking. Says, “See, I have received a commandment to bless. And God has blessed and I cannot reverse it.” You see, even when he tried, the prophet of God could not reverse a blessing that the Lord had already spoken over his children.
Ashley:
Wow.
Carlie:
This is so powerful because that was in the Old Testament. How much more does that apply to us now? The Lord has spoken blessings over our life that cannot be reversed and it cannot be reversed. It doesn’t matter how many armies come against us. It doesn’t matter what other people try to do, doesn’t matter what the circumstances are. The blessings of God cannot be reversed. The only way that the blessings of God fail to come to pass in our life is if we just decide not to believe in them through unbelief. If we decide that the blessings of God do not apply to us, then we cannot reap the benefits.
Carlie:
We’re not cursed, but we cannot reap the benefits of them. The blessings of God do not have an expiration date. And that’s really good news. Because even if you are a person that started in a place of faith, maybe you started out by confessing the word and you felt like things were really moving and shaking and you were really rocking it with Jesus and stuff was really happening. And for some reason somewhere along the line, your heart has become hurt or wounded or hope deferred has made your heart sick. Somehow that your words don’t seem to be as effective as they were before. And maybe you’ve become discouraged. Maybe you’ve even become distant from the Lord because things are not working out. Maybe just you have pain in your body, or poverty in your…
Carlie:
Whatever it is that’s distracting you from your relationship with the Lord, the blessings of God still apply to you just as much today as if when they were first spoken, amen. They didn’t grow old, they didn’t expire. You didn’t miss out on them, okay? You’re not going to get second rate blessings now, or clearance section, bargain blessings. The blessings of God are as for you today as they ever were. All we have to do to receive them is say yes. That’s it. Man, that’s powerful. All the promises of God are yes and amen.
Ashley:
Are yes and amen. And God’s already provided them for us. All we have to do is say yes and amen and actually receive them by faith, praise God. And Carlie’s right, nothing can separate you from the blessings of God. In fact, Paul puts it this way, talks about the love of God and he talks about it this way. This is in Romans eight. Romans 8:37 he says, “In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,” so even death or life can’t separate us from the blessings of God. “That neither angels or principalities or powers.” So even angels and demons and powers, they can’t separate us from it. “Nor things present,” things at the moment, your current circumstances or your future circumstances. “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other created things. No other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.”
Ashley:
So Paul’s saying we can’t be separated from these things. The only thing really to block the blessings of God in our life is us. Our words that life and death are in the power of the tongue, our words can block the blessings of God in our life if we choose to. But if we don’t, if we actually accept these blessings and say yes to them, then these blessings, they’re commanded blessings. They can’t be reversed like Carlie said. And God has commanded a blessing on you. Wherever you are as a born again believer, as a child of God, God has command a blessing on you, praise God. And nothing can separate you from that. All you have to do is believe it and start thanking God for it, and you’ll see that blessing start to manifest and start to affect your natural circumstances. Amen?
Carlie:
Amen, this is powerful. I want to leave us with this passage here. This is an example of Abraham again. We started out with Abraham and we’re going to finish with him. But this is in Romans chapter four. It says, “The promises God are received through faith.” Through us believing them. The same way the promises and the blessings of God are received by faith, by us putting trust and belief in them. The only way that they cannot come to pass in our life is not somehow to outward circumstances or our behavior. It’s because we walk away from putting faith in those things. If we continue in recognizing that we are blessed and putting trust and hope and start speaking in agreement in the blessings of God, they’re going to come to pass in our life.
Carlie:
This is Romans four and it says verse 16, “Therefore the promise comes through faith so that it might be by grace that the promise would be certain to all descendants. Not only those who are of the law, but also those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all. As it is written I have made you Abraham, the father of many nations who before God whom he believed…” This is important. Abraham had an opportunity to get into doubt and unbelief. He went through a lot of stuff. He could have disbelieved God, but it says, “He believed and he who raises the dead and calls those things that do not exist as though they did. Against all hope he believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations according to what was spoken. So shall your descendants be.”
Carlie:
When it looked like Abraham and Sarah, way too old to have a baby, but God spoke a blessing over him that you’ll be the father of many nations. He could have discounted it thinking, “You know what, I’m too old. The circumstances aren’t in my favor.” But he held onto it. They held onto it in the middle of the creation phase before they saw the manifestation. They chose to put faith in the word that God had said rather than the circumstances. And look what happened. “And not being weak in faith he did not consider his own body to be dead,” because he’s about a hundred years old. “Or the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waiver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God and being fully persuaded that what God had promised He was also able to perform it.” And that word that that God spoke to Abraham, he speaks to you today. Amen?
Ashley:
Amen. That’s awesome. Praise God. That’s awesome. We’re out of time, we’re going to be back real soon. But we want to pray for you real quick. Father God, I thank you for everyone listening today. I thank you that they are blessed who believe in Abraham. I thank You that we are blessed. I thank You that we believe your promises.

We are fully persuaded.
